Deadline for Punjab Govt to Lower Security Demands
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given the Punjab government a one-day deadline to reduce their demands for security costs in relation to holding Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8 matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
Unanimous Decision to Give Deadline
The PCB and PSL franchises have unanimously agreed to set the deadline for the Punjab government. If the government refuses to lower the costs, the ongoing PSL 8 matches will be moved from Lahore and Rawalpindi to Karachi. Furthermore, the PCB has also warned that the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand will be held entirely in Karachi if the Punjab government does not reduce the costs.
Excessive Security Costs Demanded
Previously, the Punjab government had demanded a hefty amount of PKR 45 crore for security arrangements to hold PSL 8 matches in the province. The PCB had already paid PKR 5 crore to the Punjab government as food expenses for the security personnel during the tournament. However, the Punjab government further demanded PKR 45 crore for security and lighting during the Punjab leg of the matches.
