Karachi Kings have secured their first win in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), after suffering three consecutive losses. The Kings dominated Lahore Qalandars, defeating them by a massive 67 runs. The Kings had been struggling to secure a victory in the tournament, with defeats against Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators.

James Vince’s 46-run innings sets up competitive target for Qalandars
After winning their first match against the host’s Sultans, Qalandars hoped to secure another win against the Kings, playing on their home ground. However, Karachi Kings set a competitive target of 186 runs for the Qalandars to chase following James Vince’s 46-run innings.
Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting’s partnership helps Kings reach challenging total
Kings’ captain Imad Wasim and all-rounder Ben Cutting then scored a 50-run partnership, which helped their side reach a challenging total against the defending champions. Although Cutting was dismissed by Qalandars’ skipper Shaheen Afridi, who delivered a fiery delivery, Imad scored 35 runs off 19 balls.
Before the partnership between the two all-rounders, Qalandars took three quick wickets to try and make a comeback against the Kings. Vince and Matthew Wade opened the innings for the Kings, stitching a 69-run partnership for the first wicket.

Despite losing Wade and Haider Ali, the next batter to take the crease and got out after scoring 18 runs, Karachi Kings were in a strong position. However, Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan from the Qalandars side managed to strike and help their team turn things around. Rauf sent veteran batter Shoaib Malik (10) back to the pavilion, while Zaman toppled Vince’s wickets to reduce the Kings to 124-4. The England batter scored 46 runs off 36 balls, including three boundaries and two maximums.

Shaheen, Zaman, Haris, and Liam Dawson each claimed a wicket for Lahore Qalandars. Lahore Qalandars had won the toss and opted to bowl first against Karachi Kings.
