PSL 2023: Multan Sultans Defeat Karachi Kings in High-Scoring Match
In the 11th match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Multan Sultans defeated Karachi Kings in a high-scoring match played at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Here is a breakdown of the match.
Multan Sultans Batting Performance
Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bat first. They made a strong start, with openers Shan Masood and skipper Mohammad Rizwan stitching together an 85-run partnership for the first wicket. Rizwan was the star of the show, scoring a magnificent century, which included 10 boundaries and four maximums. The South African batsman Rilee Rossouw also played well, scoring 29 runs off 21 balls. In the end, Multan Sultans set a target of 197 runs for the Karachi Kings.

Karachi Kings’ Batting Performance
In response to Multan Sultans’ score of 197 runs, Karachi Kings got off to a fiery start with openers James Vince and Matthew Wade putting on a 72-run partnership for the first wicket. Vince was particularly impressive, reaching his half-century in only 20 balls. However, Karachi Kings lost their momentum after Wade departed for 20 runs in 14 balls. Vince also had to leave the field after scoring 75 runs off just 34 balls due to a mix-up between him and Haider Ali. The required run rate kept increasing, and the Karachi Kings failed to keep up with it. They were eventually all out for 151 runs.
Multan Sultans’ Bowling Performance
Multan Sultans’ bowlers did an excellent job, with Khushdil Shah taking the key wicket of Haider Ali, while Usama Mir and Abbas Afridi claimed a wicket each. Multan Sultans’ captain, Mohammad Rizwan, also played a role in the bowling attack, taking a catch to dismiss Irfan Niaz Khan.
