In the ninth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by four wickets. James Neesham and Rovman Powell were the heroes for Zalmi, as they rescued the team after Mohammad Hasnain’s early destruction with the ball. Powell and Neesham scored 46 runs together, which was enough to lead Zalmi to their second win of the tournament.

Hasnain picked up three quick wickets within the powerplay, creating a good chance for Gladiators. However, Gladiators lost control of the match after Powell and Neesham took charge of the innings. Powell scored 36, whereas Neesham made the highest 37 for Zalmi. Hasnain bowled brilliantly for Gladiators, picking up three wickets in his four overs and also bowling a maiden last over. Qais Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Nawaz shared a wicket apiece.

Iftikhar Ahmed proved himself yet again by scoring a well-fought fifty for Gladiators. Gladiators lost three wickets for just 37 runs inside nine overs, but skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and Iftikhar joined hands to utilize their experience and make a match-saving partnership. They both scored 74 runs off 50 balls together before Arshad Iqbal clean bowled Sarfaraz in the 17th over. Iftikhar remained not out for 50 laced with four maximums and two boundaries.
Zalmi won the toss and decided to bowl first against Gladiators. Gladiators and Zalmi each have two points after two games and are slotted at the fourth and fifth positions on the points table, respectively. However, the winner of today’s match jumped to the second position on the table.
